Sustainably developing an appetite for cheese

Frischpack is commended in FOCUS magazine’s GERMANY TEST as one of “Germany’s most valuable companies” in the area of sustainability.

Mailling/Schönau, 27th September 2018 – Frischpack is pleased to have been awarded a seal as one of “Germany’s most valuable companies” for 2018 in the area of sustainability. The seal is awarded on behalf of the Focus and Focus Money magazines to companies from the industry, trade and service sectors which offer society a particularly high added value. Frischpack was awarded 80.1 out of a total of 100 possible points and was thus ranked 16th out of the 83 commended industrial corporations. In order to document its key figures in a manner which makes them both transparent and comparable, the cheese appetite experts from Frischpack follow the German Sustainability Code, a recognised standard for reporting the rate of sustainability development, and which also formed the basis for the ranking. “The result reaffirms our aspirations. For sustainable management and the conservation of resources form an integral part of the Frischpack mission statement and are actively encouraged by us,” explained Marian Heinz, Chairman of the Executive Board at Frischpack.

Sustainable in all areas
Frischpack has been consistently committed to the topic of sustainability for many years. The company has its energy and environmental management system certified regularly in accordance with the DIN EN ISO 50001 and DIN EN ISO 14001 standards. Its work and health protection management system is also scrutinized through continual inspections and received BS OHSAS 18001 certification in 2017. Frischpack also turns its environmental concept into practice on a structural level: A photovoltaic system with an overall surface area of around 1,800 square metres is currently being installed on the corporate grounds and should be up and running at the start of November. The company already obtains 100 percent of its electricity from hydropower, but the sustainability concept goes even further. “Our customers are demanding even more. They want products from manufacturers who assume ecological, economic and social responsibility,” Marian Heinz remarked. “The proof that Frischpack can guarantee this is shown, on the one hand, by our management systems and, on the other, by our careful treatment of raw materials and our demand for sustainable processing. We make consistent and continual investments in all of our processes and optimize the environmental impact of our products from year to year. FOCUS magazine’s commendation encourages us to continue along our path of sustainability.”
